About Me

If you read the header of this blog, Professor Puran Singh says in those few beautiful lines that -  "As a musician cannot stand a harsh note, so a man of surta cannot stand souls that are heavy with desire. He can live with ignorant people who cast no shadows on him, but it is suffocating for him to live with men of opinions, the heavy ones whose flesh smells of prudence, plans, and rottenness of minds." I often times wonder is Professor Sahib talking about "not having opinions at all?" cause that might be really contradicting to the Sikh philosophy of - Standing up for truth, justice and righteous-ness. I mean only by making opinions does one voice it? So my guess in those beautiful lines wrote by Singh Sahib above is that he is talking about opinions that we all carry in our mind that remain unchallenged because of the heaviness of being (ego) or ones lack of courage to voice them often.  I mean if you ask me, I have often times asked myself why is voice so important to me? Why after all - All this writing and talking?

But then if you ask the same question to a man who's house is on fire or woman who's baby is in distress, all these people may just have one thing to lean on during those times - that is their "voice"!  A voice that they might use to stop the fire in their house or to console ones child in pain. Hence at some point if I consider this world my house even for a second and people around me my own kin, then I must have the courage to voice my opinion and if my opinions are wrong then I should be strong enough to accept them being challenged every now and then. Hence voice, like freedom is important to me.

In the end, I would just say that true art, true creativity whether its ones musical talent or ones writing, is only complete when that creation suddenly makes you remember the creator. As Professor Puran Singh says in another beautiful quote of his - “True beauty puts your mind in its creator"!

Our Guru Sahibaan did this hundred years ago when they wrote and compiled Guru Granth Sahib and hope as Guru's sikhs we all can be that single ray of beauty (even if we are just a mere minute particle of that complete form).

In the journey to become that unbiased lover.
